Monte Lema

With an altitude of 1624 meters, it is the most grandiose and panoramic peak of Tessin.

The view encompasses 360 degrees over the Lake of Lugano and the Lake Maggiore, to the Grisonese and Bernese Alps, and the panorama extends even to the plains of Lombary and the city of Milan in Italy.

Monte Lema is an important natural oases and there are many excursions that follow the crest of the mountain and wind along the mountain side through extraordinary scenery.  One can encounter Scottish cows, discover old iron mines, taste fresh alp milk, cross wide pastures and breathe in the suggestive atmosphere of the characteristic villages of the Malcantone.

Thanks to its particular formation, Monte Lema is the ideal place to try the magic of paragliding or freely descend the mountain on a mountain bike.  From Miglieglia there is a modern cableway, functioning daily from April to October that takes one up to the peak in just 7 minutes. The restaurant and hostel with its large terrace offers, an excellent cuisine, as well as sleeping accommodations for 60 people.
